Level: Core Techniques
For adults 18+
Develop a broad range of fundamental acting skills through fun and interactive acting exercises. Explore improvisation, spontaneity, physicality and the basics of the Stanislavski system. Collaborate with your classmates to develop your performance craft and extend your vocal technique with a variety of short texts.
Course Components
- Training in body and voice-the fundamental tools of the actor.
- Techniques for improvisation and collaboration
- Introduction to the basics of the Stanislavski system of acting.
Outcomes
- Understanding of the fundamental skills required by the actor.
- Ability to work creatively with a group and respond to others.
- Ability to analyse short texts.

- Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
- Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
- Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.

Short-term parking is available within the grounds of the University, with entry via Abercrombie St shortly before Broadway. Please note that this parking is for the purposes of drop-off and collection only.
Public Transport
The University of Notre Dame Australia is a 10 minute walk from Central Station/Railway Square along Broadway. Regular bus services also run along Broadway and Parramatta Road from the Inner West.
Other Information
Please meet your tutor in the courtyard of St Bendict’s school. The courtyard has two entry points, either from Abercrombie St or Broadway. Both entry points are next to St Benedict’s church and will be signposted for NIDA courses.
