Choreography: An Introduction

This course is a fast-paced intensive which explores skills required to create movement and dance sequences for performance.

Course Components

  • Develop your understanding of composition techniques for the stage
  • Collaborate with others in leading a movement-based devising process
  • Workshop ideas for a choreographic piece for performance.

Outcomes

  • An exploration of musicality, architecture, space and dynamics to develop a choreographic concept.
  • Introduction to the work of influential international and Australian choreographers
  • Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with an ensemble.

  • Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
  • Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.s.
