Acting Ensemble Extended - Audition

For adults18 years+(Advanced)

Collaborate with other committed performers two nights a week to develop an advanced level of acting skill. Students will need to have completed a previous acting course as foundation skills will not be covered.

For adults 18 years+

Acting Ensemble Extended is an intensive course, six-month course, which fully explores Stanislavskian technique and its processes in creating engaging and specific theatrical performances.
Led by a theatre director, you will collaborate with an ensemble of committed performers to develop a rigorous approach to both contemporary and classical scene work. In addition you will work with voice and movement specialists in exploring vocal and physical transformation. The course culminates in a presentation of a one-act play or medley of scenes

Overview

NIDA Ensembles are advanced short courses for those with dedication and creative potential. Classes take place on one or two evenings per week over a half-year and are ideal for people who work or study and want regular comprehensive skills development. Entry into these courses is via audition.

Course components

*Learn the craft of an effective voice warm up through a range of exercises.
*Discover how movement techniques contribute towards truthful characterisation.
*Engage in a theatrical process to apply Stanislavski technique to performance.
*Understand how to analyse a script to gather a deeper understanding of character.

Outcomes

  • Effective working relationships within an ensemble.
  • Voice and Movement techniques to create engaging, believable characters.
  • Script analysis technqiues to bring a story to life truthfully.

Prerequisites

Previous acting experience necessary – Acting Ensemble Extended is not a beginner’s course and is selective (audition-based).

Term dates

Mondays and Thursdays, 6.30pm to 9.30pm

Term one: 24 July to 14 September 2017
Term two: 16 October to 7 December 2017

Fees

The course fee is $2,500 payable in two instalments.
A separate non-refundable audition fee of $35 will be charged.

Important information

  • Please read our Cancellation and Transfer Policy.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
  • Please wear closed in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.
