Screen Acting Ensemble Extended - Audition

For adults 18 years + (Advanced)

Screen Acting Ensemble Extended is an intensive course which fully explores the application of skills and techniques required for preparing, rehearsing and performing scenes from film and television. In addition you will collaborate with a voice coach in mastering the practical application of accents convincingly for scene work and screen tests. The course culminates with a shoot where you work with a screen director and film under professional shoot conditions.

Overview

NIDA Ensembles are advanced short courses for those with dedication and creative potential. Classes take place on one or two evenings per week over a half-year and are ideal for people who work or study and want regular comprehensive skills development. Entry into these courses is via audition.

Course components

  • Master an effective vocal technique and establish personalised techniques for movement to portray truthful characters on screen.
  • Understand Industry protocols with first-hand knowledge of on-set protocols and screen tests.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of your character through detailed script analysis.
  • Work effectively in an ensemble to create engaging screen performances.

Outcomes

  • Advanced techniques to act to camera consistently with professionalism.
  • Collaborate within an ensemble to tell a story.
  • Creation of dynamic performances through voice and movement specific to screen practice
  • Awareness of industry on set protocols and audition processes.

Prerequisites

Previous acting experience necessary – Screen Acting Ensemble Extended is not a beginner’s course and is selective (audition-based).

Term dates

Mondays and Thursdays, 6.30pm to 9.30pm

Term one: 24 July to 14 September 2017
Term two: 16 October to 7 December 2017

Fees

The course fee is $2,500 payable in two instalments.
A separate non-refundable audition fee of $35 will be charged.

Important information

  • Please read our Cancellation and Transfer Policy.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
  • Please wear closed in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.
