Screen Acting Ensemble - Audition

For adults 18 years +

Level: Core Techniques

Screen Acting Ensemble is an intensive course which focuses on teaching you the techniques required to create truthful characters effectively on camera.
You will work as a member of an ensemble to develop the skills needed to successfully work on set together. Finally, you will explore the application of these skills and techniques to scenes from television and film.
This course is for people who are keen to develop a personal acting approach to creating engaging on screen performances.

Overview

NIDA Ensembles are advanced short courses for those with dedication and creative potential. Classes take place on one or two evenings per week over a half-year and are ideal for people who work or study and want regular comprehensive skills development. Entry into these courses is via audition.

Screen Acting Ensemble teaches you how to develop believable characters effectively for the camera. Work with an ensemble to achieve the skills required to successfully work on set together.

Course Components

  • Learn vocal and movement techniques to enhance your acting versatility.
  • Effectively apply the Stanislavski technique for onscreen performance.
  • Understand how to analyse a script to gather a deeper understanding of character.

Outcomes

  • Effective working relationships within an ensemble.
  • Development of authentic characterisations
  • Script analysis techniques to bring a story to life onscreen

Prerequisites

Previous acting experience necessary – Screen Acting Ensemble is not a beginner’s course and is selective (audition-based).

Term dates

Tuesdays, 6.30pm to 9.30pm

Term one: 25 July to 12 September, 2017
Term two: 17 October to 5 December, 2017

Fees

The course fee is $1,250 payable in two instalments.
A separate non-refundable audition fee of $35 will be charged.

Important information

  • Please read our Cancellation and Transfer Policy.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
  • Please wear closed in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.
