Level: Advanced Techniques

Explore the various performance techniques actors use to keep their performances fresh on screen whilst negotiating technical demands such as maintaining sight lines and blocking. Apply these heightened skills into the exploration of a screen role.

Course components

  • Release your inhibitions as you develop confidence through the application of the Stanislavski method of script analysis.
  • Trust your actor’s impulse as you improve your spontaneity through on-screen improvisation exercises.
  • Develop the necessary skills to respond to screen direction with confidence and ease.

Outcomes

  • Self efficacy in rehearsals through the application of Stanislavski technique.
  • Negotiation of spontaneity and technical control in on-screen performance.
  • Collaboration with others to develop truthful characterisations.

  • Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.
