Skills NT - Directing Actors for Screen

Under the supervision of a professional director, work with actors to investigate variety of methods by which to explore text and elicit outstanding screen performances.

Course components

• Examine a variety of directing techniques and styles in a practical workshop format.
• Develop directing methods to get the most out of actors on the rehearsal room floor.
• Gain an insight into the technical considerations directors face including shot selection, lighting and sound.

Outcomes

• Experience in working with actors in a supportive environment whilst being mentored by an industry professional.
• Confidence in casting and communicating with actors both on and off the rehearsal room floor.
• Awareness of technical considerations whilst directing for the screen.

Pre-requisites

Some experience recommended. 

Course enrolment is open to people over 18 years old. This course is available specifically for residents of the Northern Territory.

• Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
• Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.
