Get Set Ready: Screen Acting, Grades 7-10

Holiday course

Understand the technical elements of screen acting and develop your on screen performance technique in this three day intensive designed to transform your acting skills into a screen worthy performance. Work on contemporary scripts and practice screen tests under the direction of a NIDA screen expert.

Course components

  • Text interpretation: Apply contemporary acting technique to scripted scenes for recorded performance.
  • Technique: Understand and apply the technical elements of screen acting to performance.
  • Industry Alignment: Learn about industry standards, expectations and the actor’s professional process.
  • Audition Practice: Participate in simulated screen tests, understand the elements of ‘self testing’.

Prerequisites

This course is designed for young people who want to adapt their acting skills to screen performance. We recommend you attend an introductory acting course such as Acting Boot Camp or Drama School prior to attending this course.

  • Flights and Accommodation: From time to time we may need to cancel an advertised course. Before booking flights and accommodation for travel to attend a NIDA Open course, please contact the NIDA Open office to confirm if your course will proceed as planned. NIDA does not accept liability for any associated costs of attendance or cancellation.
  • Please ensure that you have given a valid email and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via email or sms.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
  • Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Participants must provide their own lunch, including snacks and drinks.
  • Children attending primary school grade equivalent holiday courses must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian.
  • NIDA staff will supervise students in courses for Grades 3–6 and Grades 7–10 in their breaks. These students will not be permitted to leave the advertised venue without parental permission.
  • If you are running late to collect your child, please call NIDA reception on 02 9697 7600. NIDA will only provide supervision during advertised course times.
