NIDA Online: Creative Practice for Solo Performance, Grades 11-12

Online Course

This highly practical course will focus on the skills and techniques required to create your own solo performance. Share in a creative development as you collaborate online with other young artists and a professional Director. This course is suitable for aspiring young artists interested in creating their own solo work and for students following the VCE Drama Study Design Syllabus or HSC Self-Devised Monologue.

Course Outcomes

  • Explore and develop skills in play-making techniques for solo performance
  • Apply selected performance styles and conventions during development
  • Devise a short solo performance material in response to stimulus (max 2 min)
  • Receive directorial feedback

Resources Required to Participate

  • Desktop, laptop or mobile with microphone and webcam
  • Internet connection

Time Commitment

  • Face to face: 4 × 2 hour sessions
  • Pre-course work: 30 minutes
  • Self-directed learning: 30 min research and development activity between each session.
