Riddle, fly and rhyme your way through Roald Dahl’s most famous stories adapted for the stage including James and the Giant Peach, Fantastic Mr Fox or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Be introduced to acting and voice technique for live performance and rehearse scenes from your favourite Roald Dahl stage plays.
h2. Course components

  • Text Analysis: Interpret and bring to life a short written text for live performance.
  • Stage Craft: Consider the elements that contribute to the physical realization of a performance.
  • Vocal Expression: Learn how the voice works and explore the voice in a live performance setting.
  • Performance: Rehearse and present a short live presentation.

Prerequisites

Student who attend this course should be confident English language readers to at least a grade 3 level. Script analysis and sight reading are integral components of this course.

  • Flights and Accommodation: From time to time we may need to cancel an advertised course. Before booking flights and accommodation for travel to attend a NIDA Open course, please contact the NIDA Open office to confirm if your course will proceed as planned. NIDA does not accept liability for any associated costs of attendance or cancellation.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
  • Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Participants must provide their own lunch, including snacks and drinks.
  • Children attending primary school grade equivalent holiday courses must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian.
  • NIDA staff will supervise students in courses for Grades 3–6 and Grades 7–10 in their breaks. These students will not be permitted to leave the advertised venue without parental permission.
  • If you are running late to collect your child, please call NIDA reception on 02 9697 7600. NIDA will only provide supervision during advertised course times.
