Holiday course

Investigate the complexities of being a heroine or hero in popular culture scenarios. Deconstruct film and fiction such as “The Giver”, “Divergent” and “The Hunger Games”. Develop skills in dramatic improvisation as you shoot on location and act in high-stakes situations exploring pivotal scenes and sequences.

Course components

  • Technique: Establish strong camera technique as you explore the potential of stage combat whilst using green screen technology.
  • Performance: Identify the given circumstances of your scene, apply actions and pinpoint your hero or heroine’s objective as you create engaging high stakes screen performances.
  • Characterisation: Participate in dramatic improvisation exercises under the guidance of an industry expert designed to provide you with tools to create diverse character depictions.

Important information

  • Please ensure that you have given a valid email and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via email or sms.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
  • Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Participants must provide their own lunch, including snacks and drinks.
  • Children attending primary school grade equivalent holiday courses must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian.
  • NIDA staff will supervise students in courses for Grades 3–6 and Grades 7–10 years in their breaks. These students will not be permitted to leave the advertised venue without parental permission.
  • If you are running late to collect your child, please call NIDA reception on 02 9697 7600. NIDA will only provide supervision during advertised course times.
