Summer Story: Screen Acting, Grades 7-10

Ice cream and sandcastles, sunsets and road trips…summer is a time of excitement, transformation and growth. This year, collaborate with a NIDA tutor to create a shared summer story using screen acting and film story techniques for the big screen. Share scenes from your short film adventure with the NIDA community.

Course components

• Acting technique: Learn and apply fundamental screen acting techniques.
• Text interpretation: Bring to life through the application of NIDA acting technique, scripted and improvised scenes for recorded performance.
• Character Development: Develop a character for recorded performance.
• Collaboration: Engage in a group creative process to develop original stories for recorded performance.

• Flights and Accommodation: From time to time we may need to cancel an advertised course. Before booking flights and accommodation for travel to attend a NIDA Open course, please contact the NIDA Open office to confirm if your course will proceed as planned. NIDA does not accept liability for any associated costs of attendance or cancellation.
• Please ensure that you have given a valid email and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via email or sms.
• Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
• Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
• Participants must provide their own lunch, including snacks and drinks.
• NIDA staff will supervise students in courses for Grades 3–6 and Grades 7–10 in their breaks. These students will not be permitted to leave the advertised venue without parental permission.
• If you are running late to collect your child, please call NIDA reception on 02 9697 7600. NIDA will only provide supervision during advertised course times.
