Holiday course

Bad Dads, Awful Aunties, and Gangsta Grannies unite in this raucous NIDA holiday, short course. Write, create, and stage your own short musical based on David Walliams' best sellers. Learn the foundations of adapting a literary work for the stage, collaborate with an ensemble to write original song lyrics, and get ready to launch a new musical revelation for family and friends at the end of the course.

Course components

  • Voice and Song- Learn how the voice works; develop confidence with singing technique and performance.
  • Acting Technique- Practice fundamental acting skills in a musical theatre performance.
  • Creative collaboration- Workshop with others to develop your songwriting ideas; create a short musical synopsis
  • Performance – Apply acting, singing and movement practice to a short scripted, musical presentation.

Important information

  • Please ensure that you have given a valid email and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via email or sms.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
  • Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Participants must provide their own lunch, including snacks and drinks.
  • Children attending primary school grade equivalent holiday courses must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian.
  • NIDA staff will supervise students in courses for Grades 3–6 and Grades 7–10 in their breaks. These students will not be permitted to leave the advertised venue without parental permission.
  • If you are running late to collect your child, please call NIDA reception on 02 9697 7600. NIDA will only provide supervision during advertised course times.
