Advanced Actors Residency

For adults 18+ years

Commencing Monday 7 January 2019

For those who have completed a NIDA Residency, or have relevant experience in actor training, this is a great next step. Explore and utilise advanced acting techniques, shoot under professional filming conditions and perform in an ensemble theatre project.

Material will be allocated prior to day one and a maximum of 12 students will be accepted per class.

NIDA’s Residencies are designed for people with commitment and curiosity to undergo intensive artistic development over an extended period of time. Applications are accepted internationally as well as nationally to create a vibrant cultural hub.

Course components

Week one: Monday 7 January – Friday 11 January, 10:30am–5:30pm

Undertake advanced acting training with workshops exploring Meisner, Suzuki , the Viewpoints and voice and accent work. Apply these techniques to a variety of texts in a creative workshop environment.

Week two: Monday 14 January – Friday 18 January, 10:30am–5:30pm

Collaborate with an experienced film and television director and director of photography on a studio set or location. Shoot two contrasting scenes and receive a copy of one edited scene from the week’s shoot.

Optional week three: Monday 21 January – Friday 25 January, 10:30am-5:30pm

Rehearse and perform in a collaborative theatrical project under the guidance of a professional director.

Fees

An application fee of 10% of the total course cost is due on application. If you are not accepted into the course, this application fee will be fully refunded. If you are accepted the remaining 90% of the course fee will need to be made to secure your place in the course. Please note the fee covers the course fee only, accommodation and other costs are not included.

Two Week Residency
Application fee: $146.50
Early bird fee: $1,318.50 (includes $146.50 application fee)
Full fee: $1,465 (includes $146.0 application fee)

Three Week Residency
Application fee: $181.50
Early bird fee: $1,633.50 (includes $181.50 application fee)
Full fee: $1,815 (includes $181.50 application fee)

Early bird expires 12 December 2018. The full course fee payment must be made before 12 December for the early bird to apply. Applications must be received before 30 November to be reviewed in time for you to secure the early bird rate.

Important information

  • Please read our cancellation and transfer policy.
  • Please wear unrestrictive and comfortable clothing for all performance related course.
  • Please wear closed in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • It is compulsory to wear closed-toe footwear in our Design and Technical courses, and any classes which take place in the Reg Grundy Studio.
  • Please bring along a pen, notebook and bottle of water to all classes.

Entry to NIDA Residencies is by selection. Once you have paid the application fee a form will be emailed to you within 5 working days. The deadline for completed Summer Residencies applications is the 17 December 2018. If you are successful you will receive a link to pay the remainder of the course fee. Group size will be restricted to ensure individual attention.
