Practical skill-based learning in the performing arts led by industry experts with a focus on personal and creative development.

Learning framework

Each term we focus on a specific area of performance practice to ensure students have a varied experience and learn a range of essential creative skills.

NIDA Open Singing and Acting courses are designed across a four term structure within the following learning framework:

Term one Improvisation and Performance Craft
Term two Voice and Movement
Term three Devising and Contemporary Performance
Term four Script Work and Staging

Term 1, 2021: Born Wicked

Imagine the chaos of having all your favourite musical theatre villains in the one place at the same time. Would they get along? Unlock your inner villain and spend a term playing some of the most fun, wicked and wonderful characters written for stage and screen musicals.

  • Collaboration: Incorporate and develop shared ideas into a project.
  • Craft: Participate in improvised scene work to develop basic acting and improvisation technique.

Term 2, 2021: If I Only Had the Steps

Close your eyes, trust your instincts and take a leap! Leave the world behind you as you fly to new heights, hitting the high notes in this musical inspired extravaganza. Be challenged by contemporary musical theatre songs and learn the skills to choreograph your own musical routine.
