Frequently Asked Questions - Screen Territory & Arts NT

What are the entry criteria?

  • Course enrolment is open to people over 18 years old.
  • Certain courses, such as the Acting courses held later in 2022 or the Make-Up for Screen and Stage course, requires the application to have existing training or experience; or alternatively to have attended the initial pre-requisite courses held in April.
  • This will be advised upon the registration page for the course in question.

How many spaces are available in the workshops?

Class numbers are capped at 16 people to ensure focused delivery and quality of experience. We anticipate a high level of interest and encourage you to enrol as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Who are teaching the courses?

Courses are taught in-person by teaching artists from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA); all of whom are highly experienced professionals. All teaching artists are working professionals within the screen and theatre sectors and teach either on NIDA’s Batchelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Programs or Open Program.

How much are the courses worth and what is the cost to me?

While enrolments in a five-day NIDA course costs $625 per person, Screen Territory and ArtsNT are subsidising enrolments for interested Northern Territorians to assist with upskilling of NT creatives and pathways to employment.

  • Registration cost per person for a 5-day workshop is $85
  • Registration cost per person for a 2 day workshop is $50  

Please note that these registrations fees are non-refundable and non-attendance at any of the courses will be taken into consideration for any further registrations

Where do I register?

All enrolments can be made directly with the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).

Where will the workshops be held?

All workshops will be held either within Darwin city or greater Darwin region.

What is the length of course delivery on any given day?

Session times are 10am-5pm daily.

If I live remote, is there any additional assistance?

A limited number of grants will be available for attendees who need to travel to Darwin to attend the course(s).

  • Screen Territory is offering a limited number of Travel Support – Skills Development grants, up to $2,000. Please contact Screen Territory on screen.territory@nt.gov.au or 08 8999 6302 for further information and to discuss your eligibility.
  • ArtsNT offers Quick Response Grants for up to $1,000 and Professional Development grants up to $2000 which cover workshop fees and travel cost to access arts activities and cultural opportunities at short notice.
