Holiday course
Be challenged by a smorgasbord of several drama skills in one day. Be introduced to voice, movement, improvisation and acting skills in a taste test of what NIDA has to offer.
Course components
- Spontaneity: Introduction to improvisation, discover how it can be used as both a rehearsal technique and performance tool.
- Voice: Practice fundamental voice technique and discover why voice training is essential to the actors tool kit.
- Movement: Experience movement training for the actor, engage your body in physical acting technique.
- Text interpretation: Enjoy interpreting a script for live performance, discover the elements that make up a scripted performance.

- Flights and Accommodation: From time to time we may need to cancel an advertised course. Before booking flights and accommodation for travel to attend a NIDA Open course, please contact the NIDA Open office to confirm if your course will proceed as planned. NIDA does not accept liability for any associated costs of attendance or cancellation.
- Please ensure that you have given a valid email and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via email or sms.
- Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
- Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
- Participants must provide their own lunch, including snacks and drinks.
- Children attending primary school grade equivalent holiday courses must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian.
- NIDA staff will supervise students in courses for Grades 3–6 and Grades 7–10 in their breaks. These students will not be permitted to leave the advertised venue without parental permission.
- If you are running late to collect your child, please call NIDA reception on 02 9697 7600. NIDA will only provide supervision during advertised course times.

Parking
There is no parking on-site at NIDA however there is paid parking on the University of NSW campus. The parking is a 10-15 minute walk from the NIDA building and is located at Gate 14 of the campus on Barker Street.
The UNSW parking area next door to NIDA, entrance via Day street, has free parking on weekends only. Other times it has permit parking for UNSW staff only.
There is also free all-day parking on some of the streets behind NIDA such as Day Ave, Doncaster Ave and Mooramie Ave, but places are limited and can fill early if UNSW students are on campus.
Public Transport
The new light rail now stops directly outside NIDA.
From Central Railway Station catch the L3 to ‘Juniors Kingsford’ from either the ‘Haymarket’ or ‘Chalmers Street’ stops and alight at the ‘UNSW Anzac Parade’ stop.

NIDA currently has no associations with any providers to either recommend or offer special rates. We suggest an internet search for the best suitable option for your individual needs.
