Level: Core Techniques

Learn how to integrate acting methodologies with holistic practices such as yoga, meditation and mindfulness to connect to the creative self and inform your artistic practice. This online course explores one of the most important aspects of actor training which is ‘know thyself’. Develop techniques to tune your instrument and enhance presence through breath, body and vocal awareness. Draw on ancient yogic practices and personal development techniques to help you navigate through these challenging times.

Learning Outcomes

  • Technique: develop a personal yoga practice.
  • Physical awareness: discover breath and body relationship.
  • Acting technique: gain knowledge and understanding of how to connect the craft of acting with holistic practices.

Prerequisite

Students must have some experience of Yoga and acting have a competent level of body awareness.

Resources Required to Participate

  • Desktop, laptop or mobile with microphone and webcam
  • Students must have selected a short monologue that they are interested in working on through the course.
  • Internet connection
  • Notepad and pencil or device for personal reflections

Time Commitment

  • Face to face via Zoom: 3 × 2 hour sessions
  • Self-directed learning: approx 60 min writing activity between each session.
