Miracle and Rhyme: Mini Musical, Grades Prep-2

Holiday course

Savour the sweetness of a chocolate factory, and outwit the wickedness of an adult world in a mini-musical adventure inspired by the words of Roald Dahl. Learn and perform revolting, amazing and inspiring stories in a singing and acting presentation for family and friends at the end of this fun, introductory course.

Course components

  • Voice and song: Develop confidence singing in front of a live audience.
  • Movement: Create simple movement routines to support your mini musical performance.
  • Physical Expression : Participate in games and exercises that promote expressive movement, physical command and spatial awareness.
  • Characters: Experiment with vocal and physical expression to create a character for performance inspired by a musical theatre story.
  • Performance and Collaboration: Work as part of a team to develop a short ensemble singing and acting presentation.


This course is designed for children who attend full time school (VIC Prep equivalent). If your child is not yet enrolled in full time, formal schooling, please see our selection of Creative Play courses designed for pre-school children.

  • Flights and Accommodation: From time to time we may need to cancel an advertised course. Before booking flights and accommodation for travel to attend a NIDA Open course, please contact the NIDA Open office to confirm if your course will proceed as planned. NIDA does not accept liability for any associated costs of attendance or cancellation.
  • Please ensure that you have given a valid email and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via email or sms.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
  • Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Participants must provide their own lunch, including snacks and drinks.
  • Children attending primary school grade equivalent holiday courses must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian.
  • NIDA staff will supervise students at all times. Students are not permitted to leave the advertised venue without parental permission.
  • If you are running late to collect your child, please call NIDA reception on 02 9697 7600. NIDA will only provide supervision during advertised course times.
