NIDA Alter-Reality: Filmmaking, Grades 7-10

Holiday course

Take charge of your reality and make the world of your wildest dreams come to life on the big screen. Inspired by popular computer games and films such as Clash of Clans or Tomorrowland, work with a NIDA expert to turn your original story into a short film. Be introduced to all the elements of filmmaking including creative development, directing and acting. Receive a copy of your film.

Course components

  • Acting Technique: Explore characterisation and build screen acting skills through improvised and rehearsed scene work.
  • Collaboration: Engage in a group creative process to develop an original short film, assume a variety of roles in front of and behind the camera.
  • Filmmaking: Develop, rehearse and shoot a short film.

Important information

  • Please read our Cancellation and Transfer Policy.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
  • Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Participants must provide their own lunch, including snacks and drinks.
  • Children attending primary school grade equivalent holiday courses must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian.
  • NIDA staff will supervise students in courses for Grades 3–6 and Grades 7–10 in their breaks. These students will not be permitted to leave the advertised venue without parental permission.
  • If you are running late to collect your child, please call NIDA reception on 02 9697 7600. NIDA will only provide supervision during advertised course times.
