Semester 1, 2022: Devising: Step into Storytelling

Stories unite, challenge and inspire us. From cave time campfires and epic myths and legends, to fairytales, graphic novels and digital dramas, a compelling story transcends time. Versed by the past, collaborate with your Next Stage ensemble to become present day storytellers. Work with a NIDA director to devise an original theatre piece inspired by traditional storytelling technique and share your tales in a one off performance for family and friends.

Course components

  • Collaboration: Incorporate and develop shared ideas into a live presentation.
  • Creative Voice: Assume a variety of roles in a creative process, generate new ideas for an original performance work.
  • Stage Craft: Consider the elements that contribute to the physical realisation of a performance.
  • Performance: Apply acting, voice and movement practice to a short live presentation.

Semester 2, 2022: Scripts & Staging: Fully Scripted

Develop a fully-realised character for live performance then present the rehearsed work to family and friends.
