Hitting Your Mark: Screen Acting, Grades 7-9

Overview

Whether you’re in Home & Away or The Avengers, one of the most important skills is being able to ‘hit your mark’. Develop the technical ability to be on target, scene after scene, in this engaging and comprehensive screen acting class for young people in Grades 7-9. Explore working with scripts from television and film, acting in high-stakes situations and working with accuracy when handling props.   

NIDA Open provides a welcoming and collaborative environment, where teaching artists bring their creative practice and industry experience to deliver contemporary student learning. Join like-minded peers in creative collaboration and develop your screen acting and performance technique at NIDA Open. 

Components

  • Technique: Participate in a comprehensive screen workshop to establish the technical elements for strong screen performances.  
  • Performance: Identify the given circumstances of your scene, apply actions and pinpoint your hero or heroine’s objective as you create engaging high stakes screen performances.  
  • Characterisation: Participate in dramatic improvisation exercises under the guidance of an industry expert designed to provide you with the tools to make diverse character choices.
