NIDA Acting Techniques: Inside The Director’s Room

Overview

Designed for actors looking for industry-level direction and experience. Offered as a rehearsal room style workshop, students work with an experienced theatre director to undertake advanced rehearsal technique exercises and explore contemporary scenes with like-minded peers.

This exploration will provide valuable insights into different dramatic styles and approaches to performance, enriching your understanding of acting technique and character preparation for rehearsal.

Components

  • Advanced exercises for acting technique and scene preparation.
  • Advanced scene rehearsal with a theatre director.
  • Understanding of the actor/director relationship and expectations in a rehearsal setting.

Prerequisite

An advanced course. This fast-paced course will require students to work on scenes outside of course delivery and have a prepared monologue for week 1.

NIDA acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands on which we learn and tell stories, the Bidjigal, Gadigal, Dharawal and Dharug peoples, and we pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present.
