NIDA Audition Preparation

Overview

Prepare to excel in this rigorous course tailored for prospective applicants to the NIDA Bachelor of Fine Arts, Acting Program. Throughout this intensive experience, you will be equipped to make bold and imaginative decisions that are crucial for audition success. 

Gain invaluable insights into selecting performance material that showcases your unique talents. Explore a range of physical and vocal techniques that will not only enhance your abilities but also deepen your understanding of character development and expression. Collaborate closely with peers who share your passion for the performing arts and engage in dynamic creative exercises aimed at honing your performance skills and boosting your confidence.  

Under the expert guidance of a NIDA Open teaching artist with extensive industry experience, you will rehearse and refine your chosen material and learn how to cultivate an ‘open’ mindset that allows you to bring authenticity to your auditions. 

Components

  • Learn how to select, prepare, and perform material for your audition 
  • Gain insight into how to perform your audition material to camera 
  • Establish a rehearsal technique to prepare with autonomy and confidence 
  • Under audition conditions, receive guidance and feedback from an industry expert 

Prerequisites

This course is classified as Intermediate. Students must have completed NIDA Acting Techniques (or equivalent experience). You should be familiar with the basic language of the Stanislavski system.
