NIDA Musical Theatre School, Grades 7-10

Overview

Unlock your passion for singing and acting in this dynamic course designed for passionate young performers. Collaborate with a NIDA Open teaching artist to develop your performance skills and work with an ensemble to explore popular musical theatre works.  Learn how the voice works to develop your singing technique and explore how to create believable characters for the stage. Present your work for your friends and family at the end of the course.

Join like-minded peers and experience the joy of musical theatre in an inclusive environment at NIDA Open, where our teaching artists bring their industry expertise and creative practice into every class. 

Components

  • Voice and Song: Learn how the voice works; develop confidence with singing technique and performance. 
  • Acting Technique: Learn and apply NIDA acting technique in a musical theatre performance. 
  • Physical awareness: Understand movement and how it can inform character and storytelling choices.                       
  • Performance: Apply acting, singing and movement practice to a short rehearsed, musical presentation.
