Overview

Unlock your creativity and craft short dramatic scenes with this interactive online course. NIDA teaching artists offer invaluable guidance to transform your ideas into impactful narratives. Through structured planning and practical online exercises, you will delve into the essential principles of storytelling, from developing captivating characters to weaving compelling narratives.  

Invigorate your characters through dynamic action and authentic dialogue as you craft an original dramatic scene. In a collaborative and supportive environment, receive expert feedback and discover your unique artistic voice.  

Delivery: Face to face via Zoom, 4 × 2-hour sessions 

Self-directed learning: approx 4 hours total between face-to-face sessions 

Components 

  • Learn foundational techniques and exercises essential to the dramatic writing process.  brainstorm, refine, and explore creative ideas for storytelling 
  • Develop characters and explore techniques that activate authentic dialogue and reveal character traits, motivations, and conflicts effectively.  
  • Collaborate in creative group exercises that provide constructive feedback and strengthen your storytelling skills.
