Rags to Riches: Musical Theatre, Grades 3-6

Overview

Jump aboard a magical carpet ride and wish upon a star, as you enter the marvellous world of musical theatre! Unleash your creativity and explore songs and stories inspired by “rags to riches” musicals including Cinderella and Aladdin. Explore vocal and physical skills to enhance your singing and develop movement routines to popular songs in this enchanting week-long course. Dive into character workshops, sharpen your improvisation abilities, and develop your confidence as you collaborate with your new NIDA Open friends. 
 
Our experienced teaching artists will inspire you in a supportive and vibrant ensemble classroom environment. Let your imagination soar as you bring timeless musical tales to life on stage! 

Components

  • Voice and Song: Learn how the voice works; develop confidence with singing technique and performance. 
  • Acting Technique: Practice fundamental acting skills in a musical theatre performance. 
  • Rehearsal: Learn songs from musical theatre scores including Cinderella and Aladdin. 
  • Performance: Apply acting, singing and movement practice to a short, musical presentation.
