Screen Acting Techniques

This comprehensive beginner’s course explores the fundamental elements of screen actor training and will develop your ability to create believable and authentic performances for the screen. Learn the basics of the Stanislavski system and engage in the technical demands of screen acting as you rehearse and shoot scenes from film and TV.
This course introduces students to the core components of script analysis including finding the given circumstances, how to play actions, identifying objectives within a scene as well as an introduction on how to approach character. Students will also focus on the technical elements of the screen industry and investigate screen acting techniques such as eyelines, framing and hitting your mark.
Work intensively on developing your craft and gain confidence as an on-screen performer. Under the mentorship of an experienced NIDA Open teaching artist, you will thrive in a nurturing and encouraging learning atmosphere, empowering you to excel in your acting journey and unlock your creative potential. Join us to discover the joy of performance, while building a strong foundation in screen acting technique, at the home of Australia’s national dramatic arts school.
This course is classified as Core Techniques. You’ll get the most out of it if you have some previous acting experience.
