Screen Study provides a supportive and creatively challenging environment for young artists serious about their artistic development. Each course runs across a semester (two terms) and students work towards group acting on screen outcomes supported by NIDA’s creative leaders. Course work includes an introduction to a variety of acting on screen disciplines and technical skills to help students develop their passion for performing arts in a holistic approach to acting and screen training. Screen Study is the perfect vehicle to apply your screen skills and extend your creative training!
Students engage in a personalised assessment and feedback process with their tutor at the end of every semester, providing them with the information and support they need to decide the next step in their creative education.
From nail-biting adventures to breath-taking fantasies, versatility and precision are required from screen actors delivering those memorable performances. Hone your performance technique, explore a variety of genre and character journeys, and reveal your inner action hero as you step into the shoes of characters from some of the most iconic film franchises and TV drama series. Receive feedback on your acting technique and on-screen presence from a NIDA expert across the 16 week course and showcase your final scenes to an invited audience.
Locations, transitions, dialogue and big print. Learn how actors process all the elements on the page of a screen script to craft their onscreen performance. With the guidance of industry professionals this 16 week course will develop your skills enabling you to remain focused amidst the dynamic on-set activity, and extend your technical skills to deliver instinctively truthful screen performances. Share your work at an informal screening at the end of the course.
Students must be available to attend every session of this 16-week course. End of course feedback and project participation is dependent on reliable attendance. Students can apply for attendance exemption in exceptional circumstances, applications must be made in advance to the supervising course manager. Students enrolled in this course must have participated in at least three NIDA term or holiday courses prior to attending this course OR be able to provide evidence of appropriate training at a comparable institution.
