Young Actors Residency, 15-18 Years

Overview

Elevate your artistic practice with NIDA’s immersive Residency Program. Designed for passionate individuals eager to refine their craft, this program offers a unique opportunity to develop fundamental skills in collaboration with NIDA teaching artists who are industry experts. Whether you’re an emerging talent or an experienced performer, our residencies provide a challenging and supportive environment where your creative potential can flourish.  

Explore fundamental acting techniques and their application to a variety of scripted material as you collaborate in a dynamic and supportive learning environment. Expand your vocal and physical range and explore how to use improvisation to create character. Discover how to adapt your acting technique as you develop your on-screen presence. 

Open to applicants from around the globe, NIDA’s Residencies foster a dynamic cultural exchange, making our program a vibrant hub for artistic innovation.  

Components

Week one Embody professional performance practice as you collaborate with others to explore voice, movement and acting technique. Explore improvisation as a tool for devising scenes and characters and develop confidence in applying technique to text in a scene study intensive. 

Week two Develop your screen presence through rehearsal as you respond to a variety of texts. Reflect upon and refine your performance as you shooting scenes to camera. Build a practical understanding of the shooting process and gain insight on how to work towards industry standards. 

Prerequisites

Entry to NIDA Residencies is by selection. Please enrol to lodge your application.
