NIDA Open extends this world‑class training beyond our iconic Sydney campus and into Melbourne, offering short courses for young people and adults at all stages of their creative journey. Whether you’re taking your first step or refining your skills, NIDA Open empowers you to explore your creativity and unlock your potential across a wide range of dramatic arts disciplines.

NIDA Open courses are held at venues in prime cultural hubs across Melbourne, including Southbank and Abbotsford.


NIDA Open offers a range of courses and experiences for young people in Grades 7-12 across a variety of disciplines. With courses in drama, acting on screen, musical theatre, writing, filmmaking and public speaking there are opportunities to develop communication and ensemble skills through creative collaboration, explore creative potential and engage in contemporary practice-based skills training. 

NIDA Open’s adult short courses offer the chance to deepen your skills in acting, writing, producing, voice and more. We offer Studios part-time training programs and short courses, designed for a range of disciplines and experience levels, including beginners as well as applied and advances techniques. With hands-on training and expert guidance, you’ll be learning in an environment that’s practical, supportive, and built for growth.

Located at the heart of the Melbourne Arts Precinct in Southbank, NIDA Melbourne is a modern and light-filled training venue. This venue provides state-of-the-art facilities and spaces that spark creativity. NIDA Melbourne offers creative learning opportunities for children, young people and adults, through the NIDA Open program.
