Stanislavski: An Introduction

Overview

Uncover the magic ‘if’, given circumstances, actions, objectives and stakes as you analyse a short script to uncover the inner life of the character. Work with a NIDA Open Teaching Artist and explore Stanislavski’s method in this intensive, fast-paced, and practical course. 

The Stanislavski system is one of the most widely acknowledged and enduring actor training systems in the world. Join us at NIDA Open to enrich your understanding of performance and begin your journey of creative and artistic growth. 

Components

  • Explore the Stanislavski System through practical exercises, including the ‘method of physical action’. 
  • Work with given circumstances, actions and objectives to unlock scripts and examine character motivation. 
  • Deconstruct the components of Realism to craft truthful Performances for the stage. 

Prerequisites

This is a Introduction course. No previous training or equivalent experience is required.
