About Gillian

Gillian is an educator and theatre director with over 20 years’ experience in actor training. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Theatre Directing at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, London and a Bachelor of Education (Hons) from Queen’s University, Belfast. 

Gillian has worked extensively in the United Kingdom as both a director and acting teacher at a number of leading drama schools, and was Program Leader for the Foundation Certificate Program in Performing Arts at Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) for 10 years. She was the Assistant Director on the Olivier Award-winning production Heroes for Ambassador Theatre Group and the Assistant Producer for the National Student Theatre Company. 

Supported by Arts Council England, she founded said&done theatre company in 2012. The company co-produced Bash, The Latter Day Plays, When the Rain Stops Falling and Clybourne Park with Unity Theatre, Liverpool, UK. 

Gillian moved to Sydney and began working at NIDA in 2015. She designed and delivered programs for Adults in her role as Program Manager in the Open department until 2021 when she was appointed Head of NIDA Open. In addition to heading up the Open team, she teaches acting fundamentals on the BFA Acting Program.
