NIDA Acting Techniques

Level: Core Techniques

For adults 18+

Develop a broad range of fundamental acting skills through fun and interactive acting exercises. Explore improvisation, spontaneity, physicality and the basics of the Stanislavski system. Collaborate with your classmates to develop your performance craft and extend your vocal technique with a variety of short texts.

Course Components

  • Training in body and voice-the fundamental tools of the actor.
  • Techniques for improvisation and collaboration
  • Introduction to the basics of the Stanislavski system of acting.


  • Understanding of the fundamental skills required by the actor.
  • Ability to work creatively with a group and respond to others.
  • Ability to analyse short texts.

  • Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.
