NIDA Musical Theatre: The Ensemble

Overview

Led by an experienced NIDA Open teaching artist, this ensemble-based course is designed for beginner performers looking to develop core musical theatre skills in singing, movement, and acting. Explore practical skills-based training and perform chorus numbers from the classic and contemporary world of musical theatre. Participants will undertake exercises in vocal technique, simple choreography, and apply acting methods to bring truth and emotion to their work.   

Build confidence, stamina, and stage presence in a dynamic, supportive environment focused on expressive storytelling and ensemble performance.  

Components  

  • Develop and apply basic choreography to repertoire. 
  • Explore vocal technique and its appropriate application.  
  • Gain insight into the Stanislavski system of acting and explore application to musical theatre. 

Prerequisites

This course is classified as Beginner.
