The Viewpoints: An Introduction

Overview

Discover a dynamic performance space in this exhilarating one-day course exploring The Viewpoints. Delve into the renowned methods pioneered by Ann Bogart and the SITI Company of New York and experience the joy of ensemble-based practice as you engage in composition exercises designed to cultivate spontaneity, flexibility, and a spirit of playful exploration.  

The course lends invaluable insights and practical opportunities to explore the principles of Viewpoints which has influenced leading contemporary theatre makers today. Our teaching artists, known for their creative practice and industry experience, will guide you through a day of structured improvisations and collaborative compositions suitable for all levels of creative experience. 

Components

  • Physical awareness: develop and refine skills in peripheral vision, soft focus, ensemble listening and reactivity. 
  • Collaboration and ensemble: discover the nine Physical viewpoints and apply them in Viewpoint grid exercises throughout the day to compose new work.
