Bronwyn Batchelor

Program Manager – Children and Young People

Bronwyn has worked passionately in Theatre for Young People for 30 years. As a graduate of the University of Southern Queensland’s Theatre Performance course with continued studies at the University of Queensland she has worked as an actor in theatre and film and TV. She began writing and producing theatre for young people with a series of plays commissioned by the Qld Arts Council for widespread touring and produced, wrote and developed new works for various theatre in education companies. Bronwyn has led Artist in Residence appointments in schools in NSW and QLD and mentored emerging Teaching Artists. As Artistic Director of Whiteknight Theatre she specialised in curriculum-based theatre styles, producing, writing and directing all performance and workshop material.

Prior to her appointment as Program Manager for Children and Young People, Bronwyn was a regular tutor with NIDA Open for over 12 years in both the Schools and Youth Program. Teaching highlights include developing and delivering Drama and Literacy programs in schools, teaching professional development courses to Primary School and Early Childhood Teachers and teaching many short and part time courses.

Bronwyn’s work as a Teaching Artist has also extended to The Sydney Opera House, The Australian Film and Television Academy, Danceworks, and her current work with Sydney Theatre Company.

In addition to teaching and performing, Bronwyn has worked as a producer, program coordinator and arts manager with a number of small and medium arts organisations, including Fox Studios Australia, The City Exhibition Space and Epic Attractions.
