Australian Accent Essentials

Overview

Developing a natural, confident, and consistent Australian accent is a valuable skill for actors. Guided by an experienced NIDA Open teaching artist, explore the core techniques of accent development and develop the phonetic notation skills that enable you to break down text. Develop and understand the vocal elements that shape the Australian sound to develop convincing characters.

Whether you’re preparing for a role or expanding your versatility as a performer, this course will give you the tools to approach the Australian accent with authenticity and confidence.

Components

  • Phonetics: learn the technical essentials of the Standard Australian accent.
  • Apply accent technique to a variety of texts.
  • Refine your character development skills and recreate specific intonational patterns

Prerequisites

This course is classified as Introduction. No previous experience is necessary.
