Engage in an in-depth exploration of the tools actors use to portray fictional characters without sacrificing truth. Explore the notions of observation, mimicry, psychology, physicality and imagination as you are guided by an industry expert to recreate the inner life of a character.

Course components

  • Explore the various ways in which you can approach characterisation for the stage.
  • Apply Stanislavski techniques to uncover truth in performance.
  • Present scene work and gain feedback from an industry professional.

  • A sustained character in performance.
  • Ability to work in depth on scene work and respond to feedback.

  • Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
  • Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.
