Teaching Drama to Young People: Train the Trainer

Want to learn how to teach performance and drama to children an young people? Join NIDA Teaching Artists in a practical workshop to develop drama and classroom teaching skills, designed specifically for experienced or recently trained performing artists keen to transfer their skills to a classroom setting. Learn how to embed your creative practice within a teaching context for children and young people. Develop strategies for structuring drama classes for students aged 5-16, implementing effective classroom management and providing supportive feedback.

You will receive feedback from industry experts on your teaching practice and learn from others in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Outcomes

  • Ability to plan and deliver an effective, age appropriate drama lesson
  • Access to effective strategies for classroom management and student engagement

Pre-requisites

Students should have an existing creative practise in a performing arts discipline, some teaching experience or a strong desire to develop their teaching practise. Please contact NIDA Open office open@nida.edu.au before enrolling.

*Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
*Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
*Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.
