Level: Core Techniques
Enhance your creativity by applying the principles of improvisation including accepting and extending offers, responding authentically to an audience and following a spontaneous impulse. Discover how to perform long and short form improvisation like a professional whilst building your confidence and having fun.
Course components
- Be spontaneous in your performances and consolidate your ability to make and accept offers.
- Develop your ability to create character journeys and strong narratives as you participate in long form improvisation
- Enhance your confidence and trust your impulses whilst collaborating with an ensemble towards a shared outcome.

- Application of the principles of long and short form improvisation in performance.
- Increased confidence to trust your creative instinct in the creation of new works.
- Ability to think on your feet and respond thoughtfully in high pressure situations.

Important information
- Please read our Cancellation and Transfer Policy.
- Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.
- Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor.
- Please bring along a pen, notebook or electronic device and a bottle of water to all classes.

Parking
There is no parking on-site at NIDA however there is paid parking on the University of NSW campus. The parking is a 10-15 minute walk from the NIDA building and is located at Gate 14 of the campus on Barker Street.
The UNSW parking area next door to NIDA, entrance via Day street, has free parking on weekends only. Other times it has permit parking for UNSW staff only.
There is also limited free all-day parking on some of the streets behind NIDA to the west, on Doncaster, Mooramie and Cottenham Avenues, and the connecting streets, but places are limited and can fill early if UNSW students are on campus.
Public Transport
Getting there
The L3 light rail Kingsford Line runs south from Circular Quay, with stops at Town Hall, Central Station and right outside NIDA on Anzac Parade.
Buses run regularly from Central Station, Green Square Station, Bondi Junction and various locations around the inner-city suburbs
