Increase your confidence in preparing and performing classical monologues for 2021 drama school auditions. Learn how to analyse heightened text and engage your imagination as you prepare your unique interpretation of a classical monologue. Develop the necessary physical and vocal skills to approach heightened text with confidence in a high-pressure audition situation.

This course can be undertaken as a single unit or paired with Audition Preparation: Contemporary Monologues course.

Learning Outcomes

• Understanding of text analysis and monologue preparation
• Develop a practical understanding of language and meter
• Explore physical and vocal approaches to activate heightened language
• Increased confidence performing classical text

Time Commitment

• Face to face via Zoom: 4 × 2.5 hour sessions
• Pre-course work: Choose a classical monologue (no more than 2 mins long).
• Self-directed learning: A minimum of 60 minutes between sessions to rehearse monologue

Resources Required to Participate

• Desktop, laptop or mobile with microphone and webcam
• Word processing application (Google Docs, Word or Pages)
• Internet connection
• Notepad and pencil (non-essential)
